An 84 year-old man was recently
crushed to death by a fast moving
vehicle in Oshodi area of Lagos, while at
the verge of crossing the road . Other
commuters waiting to board buses to
their different destinations reportedly
sustained varying degrees of injuries .
Eye witnesses said a mass transit bus
which apparently had a break failure
suddenly veered off its lane and ran into
the commuters .
Efforts to save the old man failed as he
reportedly gave up the ghost after
muttering his name. He gave his name
simply as Adewale but was unable to tell
the concerned sympathizers where he
lived before yielding the ghost.
No telephone according to eye witness
was found on him. The only item with
him was a polythene bag in which were
a cap and some old news papers.
Meanwhile, A building located in Ebutte-
Metta area of Lagos recently went up in
flames , roasting an occupant to death.
The fire which also destroyed property
which monetary value could not be
intermediately ascertained , occurred at
the early hours of Monday.
Although the cause of the inferno could
not be immediately ascertained, report
said it started from one of the
apartments while the occupants were
asleep.
Efforts by the occupants who were
jolted from sleep to salvage some of
their properties failed as they only
managed to scamper for safety.
But unfortunately for a man simply
identified as Mr Nnamani, he could not
escape as others , as report said he was
chocked by smoke in an attempt to
escape and thereafter roasted in the fire.
His charred remains was later removed
by members of his family
