2 Fulani Normads stab police to death in Asaba

Sometimes I feel its better to wipe out the Nigerian Police due to
incompetence. A country with over 800,000 policemen, yet on
top of crime and insecurity saga. Fulani/Hausa Normads
yesterday, stabbed one police to death in Asaba.
Last year several police stations in the North was bombed, a
minimum of 100 policemen carelessly died last year.
I don’t want to mention the latest report by the IG of police
informing Nigerians about the sad escape of the dreaded
December 25th church bomber in Madala. Incompetence has
become a household name in the police force.
In each/any conflict or dissagreement between police and civilians
in the recent six month, there is always two similar results. Either
the police shot civilians dead or the reverse is the case. No more
court rule.
A news report from Asaba the capital of Delta state said two
common Fulani Cattle herders yesterday, stabbed a policeman to
death. Yet even the state Police Public Relations Officer PPRO could
not identify the police, his where about or what conspired between
him and the Herdsmen.
Thus reacting to a media interview on the incidence, the PPRO in
charge of Asaba said “ about the incident two Hausa/ Fulanis
attacked a policeman with dagger and mob lynched the two of
them.
But that policeman’s identity was yet to be known , we don’t know
if he is from this command and whether is dead or the hospital he
is”.
An eyewitness, Mr Charles said the Normads stabbed the Police
and he slumped before the angry crowd rushed on them and
lynched the later.

a pastor of Qua Iboe church in Eket.

confessed to have robbed some group of people earlier on
December 31st in the same area.

Uyo.
At the scene of the arrest, it was learnt that a bottle of spirit, a cup
and other items believed to be parts of the things for the initiation
were recovered. The police officer added that the suspects were
recruited into cult for criminal reasons.
Also paraded was David Godspower, who was arrested on
January 2 for allegedly being in possession of one Brownie pistol
marked BDA380425PM53327.
Another suspect, Edet Asuquo, was arrested on January 17 for
allegedly attempting to kill Victor Nyong by inflicting machete cuts
on him and pushing him into a river.
Asuquo was alleged to have dispossessed the victim of his
N40,000 and a telephone. He also allegedly duped the victim’s wife
of N200,000.

Daddy Showkey escapes Gunmen Attack in Lagos

Barely one year after some armed men stormed his Alagbole
home killing a cherished aide, the Ajegunle based soldier and
music star Daddy Showkey escaped another attack from men
suspected to be hired assasins in Lagos.
Showkey was traced again on Tuesday on his way to a filing
station situated along Agidingbi road,
Lagos Nigeria. Explaining his ordeal, the music star said he was on
his way to the filing station when he first noticed two guys on a
Motorcycle following his closely.
Upon getting to the filing station, he joined the queue in a bid to get
some fuel. He was still on queue inside his Toyota Landrover LR3
vehicle when a young man approached by his car door to inform
him that he had a flat tire. Though he doubted, Showkey came
down to confirm the flat tire only to be saluted with two gun shots
from the armed men.
Luckily for him, he said the bullets missed him and he quickly
engaged one of the men in a fight. More shooting from the other
colleague made him let go of the fight.
Meanwhile while this was happening all the motorists on queue for
fuel took to heels. Showkey thanked God for saving him and
wondered why some people would want him dead. The report is
already in the Police net he said.

Fire outbreak razes Warri motor spare parts market

Barely a month after the popular Udu Harbour same market was
razed, a disastrous fire outbreak erupted in the Motor spare parts
market in Effurun Delta State on Thursday night.
The inferno which started at about midnight on Thursday razed
more than half the market before been doused by combined
emergency action of the state fire service, Chevron fire service and
Shell fire service the next morning.
Speaking to Newsmen, some of the traders whose shops were
burnt, seen lamenting their losses at the market located on the
Warri/Benin/Sapele Expressway, said they had lost all their
investments to the inferno.
Most of them lost not only shops but warehouses to the fire
outbreak. Counting their losses, they pleaded on the state

Obama explains Nigeria’s fuel subsidy scam; OBJ, Ciroma may face trial

In a reply to Nigeria after reviewing the Fuel Subsidy Equation
submitted to the American president by the former Petroleum
minister of Nigeria, Professor Tam David West, Barack Obama has
described the fuel subsidy arrangement by the Nigerian
government as a “scam”.
Prof. Tam West’s analysis has revealed that all things being equal,
the price of petrol in Nigeria (considering local refining) is not more
than N40.5o/litre. His analysis revealed that the government is the
cause of the sufferings the masses are encountering in the
country.
Reacting to the evaluation result, Obama condemned the subsidy
act by the Nigerian Government. Read his statement in a quote
below.

This economic puzzle in Nigeria is simple enough for anyone to
solve.
* Fuel subsidy itself is a scam
* Removal of self subsidy is a scam
* Turn around maintenance of refineries is a scam
* Non development of new refineries is a scam
* Insincerity of government is a scam

- Barack Obama.
Also on the fuel subsidy scam, reports emerging recently in the
ongoing subsidy scam probe is showing that the former president
of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, the then minister of finance,
Adamu Ciroma has a case to answer about the scam.
Defending the Nigeria Custom Service while reacting to allegations
leveled against them in Abuja
yesterday, Mr. Julius Ndubuisi, a deputy comptroller general of
customs, who appeared before the committee, said his service
was “warned” sometime in 2002, by the federal ministry of
finance, in a letter, not to press for documentations for petroleum
imports to “avoid crisis.”
The customs official’s revelation has opened a new vista into the
elaborate web of complications surrounding the importation and
clearance of petroleum products annually, and government’s
payment of trillions of naira in subsidy.
Meanwhile the probe into the fuel subsidy scam continues to gain
weight.

Produce Christmas day Bomber within 24hrs! GEJ to IG of Police

The President and commander in chief of the armed forces of
Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan yesterday gave a 24-hours
ultimatum to the Inspector General (IG) of Police to produce
Christmas day bomber, Madala Kabiru Sokoto an alleged member
of the Boko Haram sect.
The suspected bomber had escaped from detention according to a
report released by the Nigerian Police last week. The President
could not believe the possibility of such a dreaded and wanted sect
member escape from police custody after he had been arrested.
The commissioner of Police in the state, Zakari Biu was suspended
by the IG of police over the alleged escape initially.
The president’s deadline ends today, Nigerians are waiting to see
what happens after that.
Meanwhile various christian clerics around the country and the
South Eastern Senators forum, following the recent incessant
killing of Christians by the sect group has urged Christians in the
North to be security conscious.

“You” are one out of 4.3 Million Nigerians registered on facebook

I know you were astonished when
you saw this headline, I wonder why I caught you by surprise,
probably because you don’t believe you occupy some space in the
internet. Most internet users in Nigeria don’t know themselves, but
I will help tell you who you are today.
Back then in foundation school, my teacher would tell us that
“matter” is anything that has weight and can occupy space, thus
you are a matter and you occupy some free space in the internet,
on facebook atleat…lol
A statistical data released on the number of Nigerians currently
sharing the efficacy of living on facebook revealed that our
population on facebook has increased from 400,000 (four years
ago) to 4.3 million (December 31, 2011). And guess what, you are
one of them, your friends and families too!
Nigeria is currently ranked 3rd by population among 54 countries
in Africa. Taking after South Africa (9.4 million) and Egypt (4.8
million).
Moroco came fourth with 4.1 million Facebook users; Algeria with
2.8 million users maintains fifth position while Tunisia recorded 2.7
million Facebook users at the ended of December, 2011 making it
clinch the sixth position in the continent. Ghana on its part, beat
other African countries with a 1.1 million Facebook subscriber mark
recorded in the country as at end of 2011.

Tuesday 17 January 2012

The Banker Magazine has just published an official bank ranking in
the African continent. Not surprising though, eleven (11) Nigerian
commercial banks made it to the top 50 best rated banks in Africa
thereby placing Nigeria in the top list of all African countries in the
overall ranking.
Speaking on the ranking results, the Africa’s banker editor, Mr. Paul
Wallace commended banks from Nigeria, South Africa, and North
Africa for still maintaining their positions in the best 20. According
to him, only “one lender” from Togo-based Ecobank came up in
the first 20 banks in the continent in this year’s ranking.
Mr. Wallace mentioned that African banks have made practical
improvements recently and writes: “African banks have grown
rapidly in the past few years. Based on the 2010 results, nineteen
of them have Tier 1 Capital of more than $1 billion, a level that
roughly marks the cut-off point for the world’s biggest 500
banks”.
The banks that appeared in the top 50 African banks from Nigeria
are listed below:
Access Bank, Zenith Bank, UBA, Guarantee Trust Bank, First Bank,
and Fidelity Bank. Others includes First City Monument Bank,
Stanbic Bank, Diamond Bank, Skye Bank and Eco Bank of Nigeria.
In the ranking Nigeria came first, seconded by Egypt and followed
by South Africa.
